PHOTOS: Tree On North Laurel House Causes 'Significant Damage'

Howard County fire officials responded to the incident Monday night during Hurricane Sandy.

A large tree fell in the center of a home in North Laurel Monday night during the height of Hurricane Sandy, according to Howard County fire and rescue officials.

Rescue officials were called to the 10900 block of Hammond Drive at about 8 p.m. Monday, according to a release.

Fire officials said it appears no one was hurt in the incident because the family had sought refuge in the basement during the storm.

“As a result of their actions, no one was injured in what could have been a catastrophic incident,” officials wrote in a release.
