Howard/Carroll County Commuters: Expect Delays on West Friendship Road

Lane closures will be in effect until June, according to the State Highway Administration.

Drivers should expect lane closures on West Friendship Road (MD Route 851) beginning this week, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA).

Crews will be on the road between MD Route 32 and the Carroll County line milling, patching and repaving the roadway beginning Monday, April 8.

Lane closures will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday; work is expected to be complete by June 30, according to SHA. There will be flaggers, signs, cones and barrels on the roadways, directing drivers through the work zone.

On average, about 1,300 drivers travel on that section of West Friendship Road every day, according to SHA. The finished product should provide them with smoother pavement and brighter lines on the pavement.

The $300,000 contract is being handled by Baltimore-based P. Flanigan and Sons, Inc.
