Have Your Say: Ellicott City Today

Head into the day a little more informed.

Another brisk day. According to the National Weather Service, we'll have clear, sunny skies today with a high temperature near 50 degrees. Clouds should roll in tonight when the temperature drops to near-freezing. 

The Bureau of Environmental Services is hosting an information night tonight with county staff about the Alpha Ridge Landfill's .  Representatives will also be on hand to discuss recycling, composting and the widening of Marriottsville Road. The meeting is at the Marriotts Ridge High School cafeteria from 6 - 8 p.m. For more information, contact Bureau of Environmental Services, Jeffrey Dannis, 410-313-6419. 

There's a public hearing at tonight's County Council meeting. For a list of pending legislation, check the council's website. The hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the George Howard Building. It will also be streamed online and broadcast on Comcast channel 99 and Verizon channel 44.

And ... On this day in 1903 the Williamsburg Bridge opened to traffic after seven years of construction. The 1,600 foot bridge was the worlds longest suspension bridge until the 1920s. It linked Manhattan to the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
