Freezing Rain Tonight: Ellicott City Today

Head into the day a little more informed.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high temperature near 37 degrees today with partly sunny skies. The weather should get a little messy overnight with freezing rain and sleet, mostly after 1 a.m. and continuing into Saturday. Temperatures will drop to about 28 degrees.

Howard County Public Schools will dismiss students three hours early today and there will be no pre-kintergarten classes all day. 

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy lunar New Year! Well, the New Year is actually Jan. 23, but celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Dragon a bit early with County Executive Ken Ulman and the County Council. The free event will have performances and food. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. at the .

Still holding on to that Christmas tree? Well today is the last day to participate in the program. After today, residents will have to take their trees -- shedding needles and all -- to the Alpha Ridge Landfill Wood Waste Area.
