Expect Traffic as Iron Girl Competitors Run and Cycle Through Town

Police will be closing roads and Re-directing traffic. Drivers should give themselves extra time or take alternate routes.

With more than 2,000 athletes cycling and running through the streets Sunday for the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon, drivers are going to have to share the roads. 

Howard County Police are also advising drivers that there will be delays, and MD Route 108 will be closed to westbound traffic from 7 a.m. to noon between Ten Mills Road and Centennial Lane.

Southbound Centennial Lane from the park entrance to MD Route 108 will also be closed.

Police officers will be on-hand on residential roadways and the cycling course to direct cyclists and traffic and, if need be, temporarily close roads for the safety of the athletes.  

Police say they'll be giving participants the right-of-way on the following roads Sunday:

  • Cantor Lane 
  • Jumpers Hill Road
  • Triadelphia Road
