Ellicott City Wall Collapse

A wall collapsed, crushing cars just off of Main Street.

On Wednesday afternoon, led to flooding along Main Street. Police instated a voluntary evacuation and businesses along Main Street closed while crews kept an eye on the Patapsco and Tiber Rivers.

A father and daughter moved their cars uphill from Main Street after Wednesday's flood, only to find the cars crushed under the rubble of a retaining wall that collapsed, according to ExploreHoward.com.

Elyssa Broumas and he father, Michael, told the source that their cars had been parked on Maryland Ave., near the Tiber River which swelled Wednesday, adding to the floods that damaged cars and businesses along Main Street.

“We moved up here because we thought it was going to flood,” 18-year-old Elyssa told ExploreHoward. “Lo and behold, we got an avalanche.”
