Ellicott City Today: September 7

Head into the day a little more informed.

Temperatures will be much warmer than yesterday, but other than that, things are looking similar. The National Weather Service says we can expect rain and possibly a thunderstorm today, but temperatures will rise to about 81 degrees. Tonight, more rain, temperatures around 70.

Howard County Public Schools is hosting a meeting this evening to present a preview of possible changes to school attendance areas for the 2012 school year. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

And ... On this day 50 years ago, the Howard County Times ran an article called "Planting a Library" about the groundbreaking of Miller Branch Library in Ellicott City. The library is scheduled to close Oct. 1 as it transitions to the being built next door.
