Ellicott City Today: September 14

Head into the day a little more informed.

In case there was any doubt, it's still summer. Temperatures will climb to the high 80s today, according to the National Weather Service. There's also a slight chance of rain between 1 p.m. and midnight. Temperatures should drop to the mid 60s over night.

Several potential new school district boundaries will be presented tonight at the Regional Attendance Area Adjustment meeting. The focus will be on elementary schools in the southeast region. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. in the Centennial High School auditorium. 

Are managing outdoor activities a hobby or part of your job? How do you know when to cancel a game or how to manage a crowd that has to be evacuated? The Department of Recreation & Parks is hosting a free hazardous weather workshop so that when the next hurricane comes, you'll be prepared.  To register, contact Tom McNeal in the Office of Emergency Management:  tmcneal@howardcountymd.gov. Walks-in are also welcome. The workshop is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the James N. Robey Public Safety Training Center, 2200 Scott Wheeler Drive, Marriottsville.
