Ellicott City Today: September 1

Head into the day a little more informed.

More sun today with temperatures hitting about 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There is a slight chance (20 percent) of rain tonight when temperatures drop to the mid 60s.

There are more Meals Ready to Eat, or MREs, available for residents who remain without electricity. Crews at the county's 11 fire stations will be in communities without power to distribute meals and water. Also, food will be at the Howard County Food Bank, 8920 Route 108, Suite A in Columbia, from 1 to 4 p.m. and following locations from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.:

  • Glenwood Senior Center
  • Bain Center 
  • East Columbia 50+ Center
  • North Laurel Senior Center
  • Elkridge Senior Center

The first day for pre-kindergarten has been rescheduled. Pre-kindergartners and students at Regional Early Childhood Centers will begin their programs on Tuesday, Sept. 6, rather than Thursday, Sept. 1, as previously planned.
