Ellicott City Superfresh May Have Found a Buyer

Another grocery store has bid on the bankrupt supermarket.

Last week, that Superfresh signaled its intent to eliminate about 1,500 jobs throughout Maryland with the closure of 22 stores, including its.

At the time, said that it was likely some stores would remain open as grocers, but that some might be converted for other retail use, or shut down entirely.  

If buyers stepped up, they could salvage some of those jobs if they keep current employees on payroll. According to The Baltimore Sun, perspective buyers have bid on a dozen stores so far.

Supervalu submitted a bid for the Ellicott City location, according to the Sun, but would not disclose the amount of its bid.
