Driving, Parking in Ellicott City this Month

New projects and old problems might hinder parking and driving in Ellicott City.

A little planning will go a long way when it comes to driving to and through Ellicott City this month, as new construction projects get under way.

Beginning Monday, April 22, parking lot B will be closed as CSX begins repairs on the retaining wall that collapsed in August when a CSX train derailed, killing two Ellicott City women.

Lot B is at the bottom of Main Street, along the Patapsco River. The 22 metered spaces in the lot will be unavailable during the work, according Director of Special Projects Steven Lafferty, which should be completed by early August.
