County Offices Soon to be Back in Ellicott City

Renovations on the George Howard Building are complete. Employees and offices will be returning over the next month.

Renovations at the George Howard Building are complete and government employees will be moving back into the building over the next four weekends beginning Friday, Sept. 17.

Phone numbers for the offices will not change.

The Office of Human Resources and the Department of Technology and Communications will remain at 8930 Stanford Boulevard in Columbia for now.

During the move, some public service counters will be closed temporarily. The schedule is as follows:

  • Auditors
  • Finance :
  • Cashiers – public counter closed from noon Friday, September 17 until noon  Monday, September 20
  • Deed Recordation – public counter closed from noon Friday, September 17 until noon Monday, September 20
  • Tax Customer Service – public counter closed from noon Friday, September 17 until noon Monday, September 20 (Tax Customer Service Counter will still accept phone calls at 410-313-2062) Inspections, Licenses & Permits – public counter closed Friday, September 17 and  Monday, September 20
  • No Residential Walk-through Permit Process on Thursday, September 16
  • Planning and Zoning -- public counter closed Friday, September 17 and Monday,  September 20
    • Division of Land Development (DLD)
    • Division of Development Engineering (DED)
    • Large Format Imaging – public counter closed from Sept. 20-27
