Delays Coming to Frederick Road

Beginning this month, BGE will be upgrading natural gas lines under Frederick Road.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (BGE) is planning to begin work this month on Frederick Road upgrading more than 5,000 feet of natural gas main under the road.

Expect traffic shifts and road crews directing traffic while BGE crews reinforce a gas main under the road.

The work will take place between Rogers Avenue and St. John’s Lane on weekdays only, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to a statement released by BGE.

Crews will be working in short segments, and there will be ongoing, temporary single lane closures but, according to the statement, Frederick Road will remain open during the project.

After work hours, both lanes of Frederick Road will be reopened and the roads will be temporarily patched; after the work is completed,  BGE will repave the roadway, according to the statement.

BGE's target start-date is the second week in April; the project is scheduled to be completed in the fall.

“We thank adjacent customers and passing motorists in advance for their patience as we conduct this important safety and reliability project,” BGE Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Jeannette M. Mills wrote in the statement.
