And Now ... Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Ellicott City

The heat, humidity and poor air quality weren't enough. Severe thunderstorms are headed our way.

Just before 8:30 p.m. the National Weather Service reported that its Doplar radar was showing "a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph."

At about the same time, the thunder and lightning became apparent in Ellicott City.

This storm is dangerous, according to NWS. "If you are in its path ... move indoors to a sturdy building and stay away from windows," the website warns.

the state's Department of the Environment issued an air quality alert and NWS issued a heat advisory.
