The Howard County Economic Development Authority will celebrate its 23rd annual Business Appreciation Week May 5-9. Business Appreciation Week is set aside annually to show county businesses just how much they are valued. Local firms of all sizes are invited to participate by registering online at hceda.org/baw. Teams of ambassadors will fan out across the county during the week to meet with businesses that request a visit.
“Business owners know that Howard County is a great place to live, work and grow,” said Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, who will also visit several local businesses. “We have a top-notch workforce, the best schools, and extraordinary amenities such as the nation’s best library system. We have many reasons for businesses to start and grow in Howard County, and Business Appreciation Week is one of the ways we show them how grateful we are that they are here.”
Business visits are expected to run approximately one hour and take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Our ambassadors will meet with the company’s leadership team, employees and tour the business.

“In addition to thanking businesses for choosing Howard County, we also want to hear from them about their needs and what we can do to assist them,” said Lawrence F. Twele, CEO of the Howard County Economic Development Authority. “We know what it takes to get them here, but we also know what it takes to keep them here. Thanking them and listening to them are important parts of the process.”
More than 100 businesses took part in Business Appreciation Week last year. Companies are encouraged to register early before all of the available appointments are taken.
