Readers' Choice: Favorite Gym in Ellicott City

Where do you go when you want to work out?

Summer is on the way. That means bathing suits, shorts, tank tops ... less clothes, more skin.

For health, vanity or both, getting into and keeping in shape can be difficult, but around Ellicott City, there are plenty of places that can help you shed pounds, build muscle or just feel a bit more energized.

Whether it's free weights, Zumba or the elliptical machine, we want to know where Ellicott City Patch readers go to break into a sweat.

Here's a list of gyms in the area:

We have included a variety of businesses from our listing to include private gyms as well as athletic clubs, but if we didn’t mention your favorite, please, add it in the comments and we’ll add it to the poll.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places and in comments on this article, so be sure to rate the business and leave a review of your favorite spot.

And please, vote only once per survey, per Patch; poll closes 9 a.m. on Friday.

The Dancel Y has the most variety of activities for the best price of any of them. While the Y is not perfect, and others may be better at specific things, the Y has the variety that the others lack.

The county operated fitness centers are terrific, clean, inexpensive and friendly. Glenwood, Roger Carter, they're great.

Thanks Carole, I added Roger Carter to the list! I'm looking forward to seeing what the new facility looks like.

Why is the County Government in the business of operating fitness centers?????? If I owned a real fitness center I'd be thrilled to learn that the tax dollars I was paying to HoCo government on my business is allowing them to compete with me. That's as bad as that stupid county-owned golf course.

The Dancel Family Center Y (the correct name, not YMCA) is a great place, full of great programs for kids, families and seniors, and a tremendous asset for the community. It's a charitable, non-profit organization that does so much great work throughout the community. Check it out!

Thanks Liam. I've changed the name.
