Pollo Feliz Mexican Restaurant Opens on Route 40

The restaurant uses a similar menu as the cafe at Tere's Latin Market, which is next door and owned by the same couple.

Pollo Feliz & Taqueria, a new Mexican restaurant on Route 40 near Rogers Avenue opened on Friday.

The restaurant specializes in Mexican food like mole poblano ($13.95) and adobo de puerca ($13.95) as well as Peruvian chicken, according to general manager Jennifer Pleitz.

The restaurant shares many of the menu items with the small cafe tucked inside Tere's Latin Market, which is next-door to Pollo Feliz and owned by the same family.

Owner Teresa Carino said in May the decision to open the new restaurant next door came after customers crowded in the market for tacos, tortas and pupusas.

On tap on Tuesday were beers like Modelo Especial, Negro Modelo, and Dogfish Head 60-minute IPA. The restaurant offers drinks such as margaritas and mojitos at its bar that seats about 20.

The restaurant serves food from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, and the bar is open until 2 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The restaurant is located at 8525 Baltimore National Pike.
