Petit Louis Bistro, the new Columbia restaurant by noted Baltimore restaurateurs Tony Foreman and Cindy Wolf, is scheduled to open in early February.

The French restaurant fills the former Red Pearl location near Sushi Sono on the lakefront.

As part of the opening announcement Foreman Wolf released a menu that features signature French cuisine like escargot ($12), rainbow trout ($21) and duck leg confit with white beans ($23).

The interior of the restaurant is composed of red leather booths, bulbous lamps, marble tables, a fireplace and two private dining rooms. A Comptoir, a casual walk-up space attached the main restaurant, will serve coffee, croissants, sandwiches and macarons starting at 7 a.m. during the week.

The restaurant will offer brunch on the weekend and features an all-French wine list.

On Wednesday afternoon, there were people bustling in and out of the large restaurant. It was clear from an outside window that the interior wasn't finished, but that much of the furniture was already inside. A spokesperson for Foreman Wolf said the interior would be closer to completion next week.

Can't wait for the opening? Foreman and Wolf are hosting six charity lunch and dinner events before the February opening.

The lunches are scheduled for Jan. 29 and 31 and cost $30 per person. The $50 per person dinner events will take place Jan. 28, 29, 30 and 31. The special events include an appetizer, entree, dessert and a complimentary glass of wine. Proceeds will benefit Bridges to Housing Stability, Columbia Festival of the Arts, the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County and The Howard County Conservancy. To make a reservation for one of the charity events call 410-864-9999.
