Harris Teeter Opens Tuesday in Ellicott City

The new grocery store will anchor a 60,000 square foot shopping center.

Harris Teeter is set to open its third Howard County store in Ellicott City Tuesday evening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m.

The 24-hour grocery store will anchor the new, 60,000 square foot Turf Valley Towne Square shopping development, with other retailers set to follow this month and later in the summer.

The shopping center is part of a planned community, which will eventually have more than 1,800 residential units.

“Towne Square at Turf Valley is an important development in Howard County,” Howard County Economic Development Authority CEO Lawrence Twele said in a statement. “Not only will the residents in the immediate area benefit from it, this growth will also benefit the entire county.”

Slotted to join the 49,000 square foot grocery store in Towne Square are: Pet Valu and Sparkle Organic (opening in April); restaurants Xitomate and Facci; Petite Cellars & Wine Bar; nail salon Beauty Sense; hair salon Inspire; barbershop Sports Clips and yogurt shop YoLaVie (opening later this summer).
