Grille 620 Opens at Turf Valley Towne Square

One of the owners of the restaurant is a Super Bowl champion while the other three draw from their experience working in steak houses.

Another new restaurant has opened at Turf Valley Town Square, the shopping center in Northwestern Ellicott City.

The restaurant is Grille 620, it features steak and seafood.

"Fresh and simple is the concept," said partner Gaby Haddad on Tuesday. He said the idea behind the restaurant is to provide excellent food and service in a comfortable atmosphere.

The restaurant is owned by four partners. Three of them—Haddad, Ali Sadeghi and David Sadeghi—previously worked together at Ruth's Chris Steak House. The Sadeghis also operate River Hill Sports Grille in Clarksville.

The other partner is none other than former Ravens linebacker and Super Bowl Champion Adalius Thomas. Haddad said he and Thomas were friends from his Ruth's Chris days.

The restaurant seats 110, in an open layout featuring wood accents, dark colors, and a spacious bar area.

"The menu is like modern American with a little fusion," said Chef Fabio Mura, an Italian from the island of Sardinia.

The menu includes dinner items like filet mignon ($28.95), lamb chops ($32.95), Thai bouillabaisse ($25.95), Togarashi Ahi tuna ($27.95) and appetizers such as Point Judith calamari ($10.95), hamburger sliders (3 for $9) and roasted beets ($8.95).

"The prices may seem expensive, but the products we use are top-notch," said Mura. He said the restaurant buys its beef from Creekstone Farms in Kansas, offers East Coast oysters, including at least one option from the Chesapeake Bay, and sources its vegetables from less than 150 miles away.

Haddad said the restaurant is so focused on fresh ingredients, it doesn't have a freezer.

Mura recommended the Yum-Yum burger ($13.95) from the bar menu. It's a beef burger topped with slow-roasted pork belly, a fried egg, swiss cheese and Bernaise sauce.

"You should try it, you'll see," said Mura about the burger.

The restaurant also has a happy hour every weekday from 3 to 6 p.m., offers a raw bar, and has 16 rotating taps pouring craft beers.

The restaurant is located in a part of Ellicott City that is seeing new development around the Turf Valley Golf Resort. A new Harris Teeter grocery store opened in March, providing an anchor to the shopping center.

In September, Facci, which offers Italian cuisine, was the first of four sit-down restaurants to open at the shopping development. Xitomate, a Mexican restaurant, and Red Parrot Asian Bistro are scheduled to open later this year.

"I think we are providing something something people don't have here," said the manager Pamela Garrido. She said residents would have to go to Baltimore city to have an option similar to Grille 620. "We wanted to bring something from downtown here.

Mura added, "And we have no parking issues here."

Currently Grille 620 is only open for dinner from 3 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 3 to 11 p.m. on weekends (11 is when the kitchen closes, although the restaurant will stay open for drinks later). The owners plan to offer lunch starting the first week of November.
