More Spanish-Language Programming In Howard County

Comcast will be adding Spanish-language and Hispanic-oriented programs to its cable offerings in an attempt to more closely reflect the populations in Howard and Harford Counties. 

The 29 new channels that will be available as part of the Xfinity TV MultiLatino packages will offer Spanish language news, dramas, and family programming, according to Comcast spokeswoman Julia Filz, and will also give customers access to music videos, including regional Mexican acts and children’s music.

According to the U.S. Census, 3.5 percent of Ellicott City’s residents identify as being “of Hispanic origin;” in Howard County, that number is 6 percent versus 8.4 percent in Maryland as a whole.  

“Our expanding Xfinity TV MultiLatino lineup, along with an increasing number of Spanish language programming choices On Demand and online, helps us to connect our growing Hispanic audience with the information and entertainment that matters most to them,” spokesperson Alisha Martin said.  

Programming will be offered from the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.

Video-only options start at about $30, according to Martin. The full list of available Spanish-language stations is available online.
