The Winter's Tale

Maryland’s famously unconventional Shakespeare troupe is setting The Winter’s Tale in the contrasting worlds of the "Camelot" White House years and the 1960s and '70’s hippie counterculture. In this production, the lords and ladies of Sicilia become the political elite of Washington DC, and the shepherds and milkmaids of Bohemia become the hippies who follow a certain psychedelic rock band, giving new meaning to Shakespeare’s most famous stage direction, “Exit pursued by a bear.”
