Spring Classes at the Howard County Center for the Arts

Registration is now open for Howard County Arts Council’s (HCAC) spring educational programs at the Howard County Center for the Arts (HCCA) in Ellicott City. HCAC offers classes and workshops for ages five to adult. Spring art programs, open to the public, begin the week of April 22, 2012. Classes range in duration from one-day workshops to six-week classes.

Classes and workshops include: Saturday Art Studio for ages 5-12; a one-day workshop for college-bound teens entitled So You Want To Go To Art School; teen through adult class offerings, including Intro to Drawing & Composition, Watercolor Basics, and an Embroidery 101 workshop introducing embroidery and appliqué techniques. Ongoing weekly drop-in sessions for drawing and painting from portrait and life models are also available.

This summer HCAC is offering a special three-day Paint It! Plein Air Workshop July 6–8 which will be held in conjunction with Paint It! Ellicott City, our annual plein air event.  An instructor will guide attendees through the basics of painting outdoors.  At the end of the weekend, attendees’ work will be included in the summer’s Open Paint Artists exhibit at HCAC and the Howard County Tourism Welcome Center.
