The paintings in this exhibition, Rochefort-en-Terre, are representative of hisplein air painting, a French expression "in the open air" describing the act of painting outdoors. According to Klos, "While working along the rocky shorelines of the Brittany countryside, I sought to capture something other thanthe sheer beauty of the place. Working amidst castles, flowers, coastline, and towers was difficult, if only because everything was so very picturesque. This challenge was welcome and the residency environment was a stimulating place to try any and all ideas." Klos painted from dawn to dusk for five weeks with four other resident artists. This show will display the highlights of those works.

Klos currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife and two sons where he splits time between his studio and his role as chair of the Visual Arts and Humanities at Anne Arundel Community College.
