New Exhibits at Howard County Center for the Arts: Resident Visual Artists Exhibit 2012 and Elements Within: B

Howard County Arts Council announces two new exhibits: Resident Visual Artists Exhibit 2012 and Elements Within: Brenda Townsend-Kollman & Michael Spears.

In Gallery I, Resident Visual Artists Exhibit 2012 features recent work created by artists who have studios at HCCA: James Adkins, Joan Bevelaqua, Carolyn Cates, Art Landerman, Diana Marta, Heidi Praff, Myungsook Ryu Kim, Jereme Scott, Leora “Lee” Smith, Alice St. Germain-Gray, Andrei Trach, Jamie Travers, Mary Jo Tydlacka, and David Zuccarini. The artists work in a variety of media including oil and watercolor painting, drawing, and glass bead-making. The Gallery II exhibit, Elements Within: Brenda Townsend-Kollman & Michael Spears, showcases ceramicist Brenda Townsend-Kollman’s Raku boxes and painter Michael Spears’ mixed-media abstract paintings.

A free reception for both exhibits will be held on Thursday, June 21, from 6–8 p.m.  The resident artists will open their studios for visitors from 7–8 p.m.  In participation with Columbia Festival of the Arts, All County Improv and What Improv Group will perform in the black box theatre from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Both exhibits run through June 22, 2012.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday 12 – 4 p.m.  The Galleries are closed Memorial Day Monday, May 28, 2012.
