Championship Golf and Resort Relaxation in Your Backyard

Turf Valley is Ellicott City's destination getaway located hidden in plain site.

Last Sunday, we peeked into the rooms and suites of the as one of the places to go for a weekend getaway.

Well this week, I wanted to checkout  located at 2700 Turf Valley Road. Who knew that there was a resort with so much to do right in the Ellicott City back yard?

Where shall we start?

First, the Turf is a full service hotel, convention space and championship golf course. You have your choice of a guestroom, suite or villa along with all of the amenities of a world-class island resort: swimming pool; sauna; spa; fitness center; and a restaurant.

Second, if you decide to make it a group "staycay" -- you know a couple of the guys and girls – you have a choice of special promotional packages like the Staycation Package or Black Ankle Winery Tour. These are great for something a little less active and quiet.

For those of you who like to keep active and breathe the fresh air of the great outdoors, the Couples Golf and Spa Package may be just the thing. This great combination includes an overnight stay, 18 holes of golf and a spa treatment of your choice. Enjoy playing on one of Howard County's most tranquil courses.

Or, just take the afternoon off and go to The Spa at Turf Valley. Get relaxed for the evening by getting a deep tissue massage and, while you’re there, add a facial for that dewy fresh look.

Third, instead of leaving the hotel for that mid-evening supper, go to Alexandra’s Restaurant. Alexandra’s is located on the bottom level of the Turf. It resembles a spacious sunken living room like those found in homes on the beaches of Malibu.

The menu begs you to place a special order. How do you choose between the crab melt (lump crab on toasted ciabatta with havarati dill cheese) or crab crusted sea bass (sea bass baked with Chesapeake crab)? There are a variety of appetizers, entrees, wines and desserts, which are destined to please your palate and satisfy your stomach.

Oops -- I almost forgot! Alexandra’s opens up to outside seating under the stars. You can choose to enjoy your evening while the warm breeze blows and flickers the table candlelight.

Okay -- you get the picture.

Turf Valley also has a lounge on the second level where guests can create their own happy hour after checking-in. You can sip a glass of wine or mixed drink while checking out the latest games – Ravens, Orioles or Wizards and so many more.

Everything you could need during your “staycay” is located at the Turf: delicious food; world-class sports; professional pool; a refreshing sauna and the list goes on.

So, whether you’re running away for the weekend or checking-in for just one night, there is always plenty to do – or not do.
