Wind Alerts for Maryland Bridges

All drivers should be cautious, transportation officials said.

The Maryland Transportation Authority issued wind warnings at multiple bridges due to high winds Thursday.

As of 6:47 a.m. Friday, all wind warnings were lifted, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

The Bay Bridge (US Route 50), the Key Bridge (Interstate 695) and the Hatem Bridge (US Route 40) are under wind warnings, meaning winds are 30 to 39 mph, the Maryland Transportation Authority said at approximately 10 p.m.

Drivers of house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mounted racks containing cargo or other vehicles subject to high winds should use caution while traveling across bridges during periods of wind warnings.

A wind warning at the Nice Bridge (US Route 301) was lifted Thursday evening, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported just before 9 p.m.

With winds swirling across the state, transportation officials advised all drivers to stay extra alert.

"Keep your speeds down and both hands on the wheel," the Maryland Transportation Authority said Thursday afternoon.
