Report: Jilly's Sold, New Owners Plan Farm-to-Table Concept

The bar closed after it was sold to new owners who plan to re-open a new restaurant at the location this winter.

Jilly's Bar and Grill, the pub that anchored a corner of the Enchanted Forest Shopping Center, closed shortly after selling the bar to new owners who plan to replace it with a craft beer and locally sourced food restaurant, according to a Howard County Times report.

The deal closed on Oct. 11, according to the report. The new owners said they'll be remodeling the space and re-opening it as The White Oak Tavern. They're shooting for a December opening for the new restaurant, which will include 25-35 craft beers on tap, and a menu featuring food sourced from Maryland farms, according to the paper.

Pete Eide, a lawyer who was waiting for a client outside the closed bar on Tuesday, said he used to visit Jilly's "all the time."

"There used to be a number of people who were there regularly," said Eide. When asked whether he plans to try the new place, he said, "Hell yes!"

Jilly's announced it would be closing on Friday after 21 years in business, in a post on Facebook. The bar's last day open was Sunday.
