Meet New Main Street Manager for Ellicott City

Debra Korb will be coordinating initiatives to bolster the Ellicott City Historic District.

There's a new manager for Ellicott City's Main Street, according to a statement from the Howard County Economic Development Authority.

Debra W. Korb was hired for the job by the Ellicott City Historic District Partnership, according to the statement.

Korb most recently served as executive director of the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation, which oversaw Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, a National Historic Landmark in Lexington, KY.

Her background also includes being director of the Historic South End in Charlotte, NC; establishing the tourism office in Monroe, NC, where she handled community relations and helped turn a courthouse into a museum; and specializing in small businesses as a marketing manager with American City Business Journals.

Korb is passionate about both historic preservation and smart growth, according to the statement from the Howard County Economic Development Authority.

In her new role, Korb's job will be to manage business retention, planning, green efforts, retail support, development and community relations in Ellicott City's historic district, the Baltimore Business Journal reported.
