New Paint for Main Street? Winners Announced July 8

Voting closed in a national contest to repaint 20 Main Streets around the U.S.; Ellicott City will find out if it won on July 8.

Twenty Main Streets across America will be announced as winners of a Benjamin Moore contest on July 8, and Ellicott City may be one of them.

The paint company is offering to repaint entire Main Streets of towns who receive the most votes in its contest. The online voting ended on June 30 and as of now votes are being tabulated.

A last minute push was orchestrated by Main Street merchants to urge residents to vote in the contest. A video filmed by Pam Long Photography featured merchants saying, "Ellicott City matters!"

After the campaign by merchants and a Ken Ulman Facebook bump,  Ellicott City was named one of the top "Movers and Shakers" between June 26 - 28.

Certainly that's a positive sign of things to come, but we'll have to wait until July 8 to see the winners.
