As Howard County recovers from Monday's snowfall, some felt the winter weather event was anticlimactic.

"Snowfall totals were a bit less than was expected," the Howard County Office of Emergency Management reported, "but it still impacted travel on our roadways."

Ellicott City got 3.1 inches of snow by 2 p.m. Monday, according to unofficial reports from the National Weather Service.

Simpsonville got 4.7 inches, Woodstock and Savage received 4 inches and Columbia had 3.2 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Classes were canceled in the Howard County Public School System, and Howard Community College started at 10 a.m. Tuesday, while plow crews were still out working to clear the roads.

"...with around 1,100 miles of roadway in the county, it takes a while to get to every street," according to the Howard County Office of Emergency Management.
