Ellicott City Restaurants Offer Half Price Gift Certificates on July Fourth

Support a local business, get a good deal.

Two Ellicott City restaurants are offering an enticing deal on Independence Day. Stop by either Portalli's or Diamondback Tavern between noon and 7 p.m. on the Fourth of July and you can pick up a gift certificate for half price.

The deal has become a yearly tradition, according to the Portalli's Facebook page. Both restaurants, which are nearby each other in Ellicott City's Historic District, are owned by Evan Brown, Alan Biars and Lee Biars.

There is a small catch, the minimum gift certificate is $50, so you have to spend at least $25 to get the deal. However, you could potentially buy a $2,000 gift certificate for $1,000 if you're so inclined, according to Alan Biars.

Also, you can't use the gift certificate on the Fourth. But why not support a local business, especially on the Fourth of July?

Editor's Note - Correction: Originally it was reported you could buy a maximum gift certificate of $50, but in fact, that's the minimum and if you really want to, you could buy a lot more than that. - AJ
