Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Howard County

School spokesperson says it's "too early to call" on whether to close schools.

Well, the season's first snow may arrive Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Howard County that extends from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday in advance of a storm system that may bring up to an inch of snow in the morning and freezing rain in the afternoon.

The system is expected to hit between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., snow in the morning, then turn to freezing rain as temperatures rise to the mid-30s on Tuesday afternoon.

NWS warns that the combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain will produce slippery conditions Tuesday, and warned drivers to be careful.

As of 3:30 p.m., Howard County schools spokesperson Rebecca Amani-Dove said it's "too early too call" as to whether schools will be closed tomorrow.
