Flood Warning Issued for Howard County

With more rain coming this morning, streams are likely to begin flooding warns the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Howard County and other parts of eastern Maryland until 1:45 p.m, after two days of rain and much more expected Friday morning.

NWS warns that areas of moderate to heavy showers are moving into the Baltimore metro area through late morning that "will cause creeks and streams to rise out of their banks... and roads to become flooded."

The weather service said that two to four inches has already fallen over the last two days and that several streams are reaching their banks or beginning to flood. NWS issued the warning at 7:51 Friday morning.

Residents should not drive vehicles into areas where there is standing water. "Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road," warned NWS.

Flood warnings were also issued in Northern Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City and Harford County.
