Scholarship Awarded to Howard County Special Needs Student
A Howard County special education student has received a scholarship of up to $1,500 from the Michael Cardin Scholarship Committee of the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF). He was honored for making tremendous strides despite his disabilities.
David Mosely-Gregory of Ellicott City is a student at Kennedy Kreiger-Fairmount. He will use his award money for swim classes and the swim team at the Martar Swimming School this summer.
The Cardin committee gave 61 scholarships statewide to help fund additional educational pursuits for special education students including post-secondary education, trade school and summer learning opportunities. All 61 award recipients have overcome challenging physical, emotional and learning disabilities and demonstrate that every student can achieve when given the tools and support to do so.

MANSEF is a not-for-profit organization of nonpublic special education facilities that promote quality services for children and youth with disabilities. The facilities serve more than 3,500 students between the ages of 2 and 21. Like public schools, the nonpublic facilities are highly regulated by the state of Maryland. And like the public schools, the nonpublic facilities are held accountable for the quality of services they provide.
