CWV Families Watch Navy Beat Delaware

With a motto of God, Country and Home, members of the Charles Carroll Post 1961 decided on September 14 to emphasize "Home:" they treated their families to a football game featuring the Midshipmen of the Naval Academy and the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens. With the Catholic War Veterans and their families cheering them on, the Midshipmen won the game easily 51 to 7. It was a pleasant way to spend a Saturday with food and drink aplenty and a bus driver to take all the pressure of driving while the Post members told old stories. A member of the Delaware crowd even invited the Post members to one of their tailgate parties, but it was necessary to decline, principally because the veterans couldn't find the darn tailgate. However, they did get to proudly salute the Navy Goat, Navy's mascot, as it passed Section 25 in the Navy-Marine Memorial Stadium. We also saw our name on the Navy scoreboard as one of the groups attending the game. It was the largest crowd to attend an opening day game in Navy history. We were a happy bunch. ANCHORS AWAY -- GO NAVY.
