Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage: Howard County Tour
Hosted by the Howard County Historical Society, the Howard County portion of the 2012 Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Owners of seven spectacular historic properties will open their homes and gardens to visitors on this annual self-guided tour. Sites on the tour will include Waverly Mansion (open between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.), Oakdale, the Shrine of St. Anthony’s, Richland Farm, White Hall Manor, Sping Hill and Spring Hill Quarters. Tour goers can look forward to a wide range of horticultural and architectural delights at each of these homes – many of which are rarely open to the public.
Advance tickets for the tour are $30 and can be purchased online at www.mhgp.org or at the Howard County Historical Society Archive and Research Library at the Charles E. Miller Branch Library.
Advance tickets can also be purchased at Shoemaker Country and Ellicott's Country Store on Main Street in Ellicott City or at River Hill Garden Center on Clarksville Pike in Clarksville. They can be purchased on the day of the tour at any of the properties for $35. Part of the proceeds of this statewide event will go to help underwrite the Howard County Historical Society’s expenses for moving their Archives and Research Library to the new Charles E. Miller Branch Library and Historical Center.
Lunch – including drink and dessert – will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Refectory Room of the Shrine of St. Anthony, Folly Quarter road, Ellicott City 21042. The cost per person is $8 and reservations are requested by May 14 by phone weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 410-531-2800.
