Civil War Expert Daniel Toomey to Discuss Maryland’s Civil War Heroes

On Monday, December 10th the Miller Branch Library and the Howard County Historical Society will co-sponsor a lecture by author Dan Toomey, entitled "Old Men in Blue and Gray, Maryland's Civil War Heroes."
Author and historian Daniel Carroll Toomey has written a number of books on the Civil War as it relates to the state of Maryland. He is considered one of the leading experts on Maryland's Civil War veterans both North and South.
The lecture will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Ellicott Room. For reservations, call the Miller Library at 410.313.1950 or email www.hclibrary.org. Mr. Toomey will have books for sale at the lecture.

Howard County Library System Charles E. Miller Branch & Historical Center opened Dec. 17, 2011.
Three thousand feet of the 63,000 square foot library is home to the Howard County Historical Center and other local historical groups.
Adjacent to the LEED-certified building is the Enchanted Garden, an outdoor teaching space complete with edible gardens, composting equipment and examples of more than 60 native species.
The library itself has 100 public computers, meeting rooms, audio/visual offerings and, of course, books.
