I was told that before this road was closed, there used to be a man who lived in one of the houses near the street who always waved at passers by.
The day the road became private, the story went, he was sitting outside with a bottle of champagne, which he shared with the regulars as he broke the news about the road being closed to through traffic.

Drove down that road many times in the 70's. It was all gravel back then.
