Ulman to Cast Ballot For Giles, Siddiqui and Scott for School Board

County Executive Ken Ulman said he would vote Friday.

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman wrote in a blog post Friday that he was going to vote for school board candidates Janet Siddiqui, Jackie Scott and Ellen Flynn Giles as part of early voting at the Florence Bain Center on Friday.

"I have worked with both Ellen and Janet for a number of years, and I know how committed they are to ensuring our students receive a top-notch education," wrote Ulman on why he made the decision to support those three candidates in a competitive Howard County Board of Education race. "Jackie Scott is a leader who will bring energy and passion to the Board, and I am proud to call her my friend."

In addition, Ulman said he would vote yes on Question 4, the Dream Act, Question 6, in support of gay marriage, and Question 7, to expand gambling in Maryland.

Ulman wrote that Question 7, "will not only produce more good paying jobs for the State, but it will keep money in Maryland and allow us to continue to support public education."

Ulman plays a role in a recent television ad in support of Question 7, in which he stands outside the Howard County government building in Ellicott City and says, "increased tourism will mean more business for Maryland small business."

Also, in an unsuprising move, Ulman wrote he would vote for fellow Democratic candidates President Barack Obama, Senator Ben Cardin and Congressman John Sarbanes.

This is a great example of why this state cannot afford to elect Ulman as governor.

Just another Liberal hack who can't think for himself. Right down the party line. One day Marylanders will wake up and realize what these people are doing to this once proud state.

I guess if Scott who pushed for the take our vote away charade Ullman came up with can't get an appointment than she should at least get 1 vote from Ullman albeit at this point it is worthless.

I wonder what he worked with Giles and Siddiqui on other than those huge billboards all over Howard county in front of businesses who do not support them?

The real shame here is these 3 boe candidates will not come out in public and discuss issues with us. Actually Giles and Siddiqui did not show up at the Elkridge forum but sent their husband and campaign manager to tell us all is great and vote for them. Damn shame to have people run for office who refuse to speak to the people and be publicly vetted.

Scott has attended every forum that she was invited too. And she did not push to take anyone's vote away. Please get your facts straight.

Thanks Ken for confirming the main three people I'm voting against Tuesday! You have some use after all :) If only I had $4000 to spare so we could have breakfast together and discuss it, but of course that would require me to be able to get my car more than 100ft from my house without damage, which you and these idiots have prevented seemingly for all eternity. You suck, they suck, and I wish you all the ill-will that one man can possibly summon. Please go to Hell where you belong.

Ulman wants these in because he can control them. He definitely had Siddiqui under his thumb. And if ensuring our children have a top notch education means they MUST have turf fields but deal with leaky roofs, Lord help us all.

These are 3 I am voting AGAINST!

We need to vote out the political hacks and put in representatives that are about serving the people of their county, not their political party.

Siddiqui and Giles do NOT have the interest of the students in mind...they have created a hot mess in this county!

So what is his plan for making sure teachers get the respect and support they need so that students can continue to receive a top notch education?

Like I said, anything ken Ulman is for, I'm against. He has taken HoCo on a massive downward spiral in just several years.

I will add to this forum - thanks Ken for making sure I vote against those candidates. Ditto for me. This year we need to take back our government, remove those who's fingers are in the preverbal candy jar, lining their pockets with our tax dollars.

Make a special note to watch the Free and Equal Election Debate between third party Presidential candidates, Gov. Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Dr. Jill Stein (Green) to be aired tonight on Monday evening, Nov. 5th from 9:00 - 10:30 pm Eastern Time. Perform a worthwhile civic duty, and be certain to listen in on this historic debate so that you can make an informed decision on voting day. Third party candidates who will be on the ballot in most states deserve to be heard. It is a violation of the 1st Amendament rights of third party candidates, and a violation of the free speech rights of every American, for their voices to be silenced.
