Rescheduled: County to Meet with Residents About Parking
A meeting postponed because of Hurricane Sandy will be held later this month.
A meeting between the administration and residents of the Historic District to discuss residential parking has been rescheduled.
It will now be held Tues., Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Church.
The meeting, initially scheduled for Mon., Oct. 29, was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. On the agenda is residential parking in the Historic District.
The County is implementing a new parking program which includes a mobile phone application that shows the user where available spots are in the Historic District and the addition of multi-space parking meters on Main Street and Maryland Ave.
When the new parking program was announced on Aug. 21, there was no plan for a residential parking plan. Planning and Zoning Director of Special Projects Steve Lafferty said subesquently that he would work with residents and that such a program was not off the table.
Crews began laying the foundation for parking meters on Wednesday; the meters will be installed on the week of Nov. 4 but will not begin charging until after Jan. 1. The meters that are currently in place in county parking lots will need to be fed in the interim.
