Police: Shot Fired, Customer, Clerk Robbed on Christmas Eve (UPDATE)

Police say at least one shot was fired during a robbery.

Police say at least one shot was fired during a Christmas Eve robbery at an Ellicott City convenience store.

According to police, a man walked into the the 7-Eleven on the 4800 block of Montgomery Road at about 1 a.m. on Dec. 24 with a handgun and demanded money from a customer and an employee.

The two handed over the money, according to police. At some point, according to police spokesperson Mary Phelan, "At least one shot was fired during the robbery inside the store."

Phalen said no one was injured and the shot "Did not appear to be fired at anyone directly."

Police describe the robber as a black man in his mid-20s. He had an average build and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a dark shirt underneath, dark gloves, dark pants and dark shoes.

More Guns Less Crime

California gun sales jump; gun injuries, deaths fall
" Gun deaths and injuries have dropped sharply in California, even as the number of guns sold in the state has risen, according to new state data.
Dealers sold 600,000 guns in California last year, up from 350,000 in 2002, according to records of sale tallied by the California Attorney General's office.
During that same period, the number of California hospitalizations due to gun injuries declined from about 4,000 annually to 2,800, a roughly 25 percent drop, according to hospital records collected by the California Department of Public Health.
Firearm-related deaths fell from about 3,200 annually to about 2,800, an 11 percent drop, state health figures show.
Most of the drop in firearm-related injuries and deaths can be explained by a well-documented, nationwide drop in violent crime.
The number of California injuries and deaths attributed to accidental discharge of firearms also has fallen. The number of suicide deaths involving firearms has remained roughly constant."

If everyone was armed nobody would be getting robbed. If there's even a slight chance the other person has a gun, no criminal is gonna chance robbing them and taking a bullet. Bully's & criminals pick on the weak. ARM EVERY ADULT!!! PROBLEM SOLVED

And the United States, with the most firearms by far in the civilized world also has by far the most deaths and injuries in the civilized world. There is absolutely no reason why any private citizen need to own a firearm and any intelligent reading of the second amendment shows that the only ones who are guaranteed to have guns are ORGANIZED TRAINED MILITIAS (i.e., the military). AND, YOU IDIOTS, IF EVERYONE WAS ARMED THEN EVEN MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE KILLED AND MAIMED!

"ORGANIZED TRAINED MILITIAS"

And those words are WHERE in the 2nd Amendment?

"any intelligent reading of the second amendment"

Seems that less intelligent minds than yours have said over and over that the 2nd is an INDIVIDUAL right. Those less intelligent minds wear robes and are called Justices.

"There is absolutely no reason why any private citizen need to own a firearm"

There is absolutely no reason why any private citizen need to own a printing press and newspapers but that too is our right.

Arming everyone is a ridiculous idea. If you had 2 groups of 10 people in 2 homes, one group had ONE armed person among them and the other group had NO armed person among them. If you knew that about both groups, which would you pick to rob?

Same way the Air Marshals work. You don't know if one is on your plane and they tell us it works.
