Police Rule Ellicott City Quadriplegic Man's Death Homicide

Police say the 51-year-old quadriplegic man died of an overdose of painkillers.

Howard County police are now investigating the February death of an Ellicott City man as a homicide.

Police say that the final autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office shows that Kevin Patrick Molony, 51, died of an overdose of oxycodone, a prescription painkiller.

On Feb. 21, paramedics arrived at Molony’s house on the 4000 block of Chariots Flight Way. Molony, a quadriplegic since a 2007 car crash, was being cared for by family members and nurses, according to police. When paramedics arrived, he was declared dead on the scene, but, according to police, there were no obvious signs of foul play.

The initial examination did not determine how Molony died, according to police, but after further testing, his death was ruled a homicide.  Police are investigating how the oxycodone was administered.
