"It really doesn't show all the damage," Kathy Newberry said.  "Part of the tree snapped off and is leaning against the house."

Thursday night's storm may not have been as dangerous as June's derecho, but for at least one Ellicott City family, it was just as damaging, if not moreso.

Kathy Newberry sent in this picture of her home. 

First thing's first -- everyone is fine, she said. But it could have been different:

My son was getting ready to go out and put down the umbrella. Had he done so a few seconds earlier, he could've been killed. The umbrella & table were literally lifted and spun in the air before the tree fell.

The tree fell at about dinner time and, although the National Weather Service did not report any tornado sitings, "Obviously 'something' touched down in our little world,'" Kathy said.
