The Howard County Department of Public Works announced on Friday that the upcoming repair of a major water delivery main in Baltimore City may result in a water shortfall in the coming weeks.
Repairs to the main are scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 3. The repairs are expected to take two to three weeks to complete and the department is warning residents that during those weeks they may experience low water pressure and possible water outages.
The county is asking during the next couple of weeks that residents shift noncritical water use, such as clothes and dish washing to morning hours if possible.
Residents have also been asked to consider the following:
- Minimizing use of washing and dish washing machines by only washing full loads
- Minimize outside lawn watering
- Minimize car washing
- Taking short showers
- Do not top off pools unless absolutely necessary
