15-year-old Arrested for Ellicott City Burglary: Crime Roundup

Residential burglary
On Jan. 27 at about 5:20 p.m., a caller told police that she saw a male ringing doorbells on the 4600 block of Morgan Court. The caller said she saw him climbing into a window at a home on the block. Police say that after a brief foot chase, they caught the burglar, who used a brick to break a window at the home he climbed into. The 15-year-old was charged as a juvenile with theft, burglary and destruction of property.
Someone broke the garage door glass at a home on the 4500 block of Stonecrest Drive on Jan. 26 between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. according to police. The burglar reached in and unlocked the bedroom, according to police, then ransacked a bedroom. A handgun and a duffel bag with cash and jewelry was reported stolen.

Burglary
Someone broke into a house under construction on the 14800 block of Merriwether Drive on Jan. 23 or 24, according to Howard County Police. High-powered electrical wire was reported stolen. Police say the burglar may have entered through an unlocked garage door.

Home invasion
A resident at a home on the 7300 block of Kerry Hill Court heard a knock at his front door just after 7 p.m. on Jan. 27, according to police. When he opened the door, he was confronted by an armed man who entered the home and demanded money, according to police. Another resident activated an alarm, police said, and the burglar fled. Nothing was reported stolen.
The burglar is described as a black man, about 5-foot-10-inches tall with a thin build (150-160 lbs). He was wearing a white t-shirt with a pattern on the front and a black mask covering his face from the nose down.
Armed robbery
Police say a victim was getting his belongings in a parking lot on the 10600 block of Gramercy place at about 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 when two masked men approached him from behind. One of the men shocked the victim with a stun gun, according to police, and then demanded he drop his belongings. Police say the victim refused and then chased the men. They ran to an awaiting vehicle and fled, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen.
Residential burglary/attempted burglary
A woman returned home to her apartment on the 5900 block of Turnabout Lane on Jan. 24 to find her front doorknob damaged, police said. The deadbolt was still in place and, according to police, no entry was made into the apartment.

Indecent exposure
According to police, a victim saw a man in a gold mini van on the 6100 block of Daylong Lane on Jan. 25 at about 9:30 a.m. masturbating.

Commercial burglary
Police say someone was able to get access to the roof of Deep Run Elementary School sometime between Jan. 25 and Jan. 28. The burglar stole copper from an HVAC unit, according to police, then entered two air handler units. Police say the burglar cut the copper pipes from the units, but could not retrieve them because of the scalding hot water. Police say there was significant flooding damage to the school.
Countywide vehicle thefts/attempted thefts
A green Kawasaki ATV was stolen from the 4100 block of Brittany Lane sometime between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27.
A trailer was stolen from the 7800 block of Old Jessup Road late the night of Jan. 26 or early the next morning.
A silver Hyundai Elantra was stolen from the 7300 block of Kerry Hill Court on Jan. 20 at about 10:30 a.m.
A blue Yamaha ATV was stolen from the 8500 block of Davis Road.
