On Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Dancel Family Center Y in Ellicott City, a check was presented to the Y of Central Maryland for $5,000 from the Columbia Triathlon Association.

The Y of Central Maryland, entered into a partnership with the Columbia Triathlon Association in January of this year. This partnership supports the main objective of both organizations promoting healthy living. The Dancel Family Center Y in Howard County is providing volunteers to support the athletes participating in the Columbia Triathlon events. The Y is also helping to staff five major events of the spring and summer season, including the Iron Girl Half Marathon, the Iron Girl Triathlon, and the Columbia Triathlon.

In return, Columbia Triathlon, is making a generous contribution to the Dancel Family Center Y’s Annual Giving Fund. This fund supports financial assistance for families in Howard County. In particular, it supports the “Send a Kid to Camp” Campaign, which enables families in need of financial help to send their children to summer camp.
